Importance Of Daily Exercise For Your Labrador
Exercise Matters
No matter the age of your labrador, some daily activity and exercise is essential. Lack of exercise leads to poor muscle tone, obesity, heart ailments, bone disorders and often results in emotional problems and even behavior quirks.
Keeping your Labrador Retriever lean and healthy can add years to his or her life. Remembering to change daily activities is recommended to keep your Labrador interested in exercise and to prevent boredom.
Here are some random Labrador exercise tidbits (since it’s currently 10 o’clock at night and I’m feeling too lazy to formulate good paragraphs):
1.Playing at the park is great exercise for both you and your Lab! Also, time spent exercising together will strengthen the bond between you and your pooch. These time periods also make excellent opportunities for training sessions.
2.Playing catch with your pooch provides great exercise for him. Remember to give him or her praise for his or her accomplishments.
3.Keeping your Lab entertained with toys might help cut down on house or lawn damage. Busy dogs are less likely to cause household problems than bored dogs.
4.Dogs love to interact with other dogs and need to have their own time for doggie play, and Labs are no exception. Especially considering most Labradors’ easy-going and friendly personalities, this is a great option for Retrievers.
5.Swimming is a great activity that will increase your Labrador’s cardiovascular fitness, muscle tone, and strength. Labs that suffer joint diseases or have injuries also will benefit from this type of low-impact workout.
6.Daily walks with your Labrador will get you both moving and offer more time for owner-pet bonding.
Until next time,
-Lauren
