“I need help potty training my labrador retriever!”

Question: “My labrador Retriever needs to be outside trained, in about a week. She is pretty smart (highly intelligent) and needs to be housebroken in about one week. How can I do that?!!!!!??? Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! She is a FEMALE NOT a MALE!”

Well the good news is that you have a lab…and they are the easiest dog to house break! You do need to invest in a crate if you don’t already have one. When your dog isn’t being supervised it needs to be in the crate. When you are around - take the dog outside. When it goes potty outside then give it lots of praise. If it has an accident in the house - then you can bring it over and have it smell it (I know there is controversy on this, but with large breed dogs it totally works) and tell them “no.” You can easily have your dog potty trained to go outside in a week with about 97% success!

first get a book. Next I suggest getting a crate. You can't house break a dog in a week but labs are smart so it shouldn't take long. When you aren't watching him put him in the crate also have him sleep in there. he shouldn't use the bath room there. Put him out right after you let him out of the crate, first thing in the morning, after he eats and when ever you see him start to go or when he acts like he's going to go.

well in what I've read you should first every time you think your dog will need to do her "business" you bring her outside you do that regularly and then once your dog gets used to that your dog will eventually show you a sign that it needs to go out t go "bathroom"…

    I hope it works :)

Crate him, make sure the crate is just big enough for him to sleep in, turn around and that is about it. If it's too big, he will go in the corner and that defeats the purpose. Call the vet and get his advice too. It will take a bit longer than a week, sorry. They need to stay in that crate a long time. My dog loved her crate, it was her safe place. I got a bigger one when she got bigger. She thought nothing could hurt her there!

crate train, a dog will not defecate where they sleep. Make sure you take puppy out every two hours and praise when she does what you ask.
